Following on from my previous post, here is an example of a Social Story in 3 parts and including symbols (by Boardmaker) added by a special school. If your child uses symbols at school, talk to teachers about preparing a Social Story which includes symbols corresponding to those used at school. Part 1 Part 2 to follow in my next post. Lots of us are thinking about when schools reopen. Whilst we are not yet aware of the details of when/how this will be, it is important to start thinking about how to prepare our children. This post provides an example of a Social Story to illustrate how the approach can be used to prepare your child for another big change!  Social Story to prepare your child for going back to school. We are still waiting to hear details about when schools will open and we know that not all children will be going back to school at the same time. I am posting this now to illustrate how a Social Story might be used to prepare your child. This Social Story is written for primary aged children, however it can be adapted for younger and older children. As it is, this Social Story may be too lengthy and includes a lot of information.  Some children will cope with the full information in one story, so I have suggested where page breaks could be – but this must depend on the individual.
